Lee Chong Wei shines in Olympics 08

BEIJING, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Lee Chong Wei from Malaysia, the world's No. 2 shuttler, entered the men's singles final at the Beijing Olympic Games here on Friday.

Lee eliminated Lee Hyun-il from South Korea to qualify FOR the final at 21-18, 13-21, 21-13.

"I have the confidence to win the third game despite I lost the second one," said the Malaysian, who was obviously in good form at the Beijing Olympics.

Lee Chong Wei said the chance to win over his possible rival, Chinese world top-ranked Lin Dan, stood at 50-50 and he would pay more attention to defense in the fight against Lin.

He kissed the Malaysian national flag on his T-shirt and hugged his coach in celebration of the hard-won success.

LEE Chong Wei has ended Malaysia’s 12-year wait for an Olympics medal after advancing to the Beijing Games men’s singles final. It will be the first time since the 1996 Atlanta Olympics when men’s doubles Cheah Soon Kit-Yap Kim Hock and men’s singles Rashid Sidek won silver and bronze respectively. Chong Wei has already cashed Rm350,000 with him as incentive from Malaysian government. Hopefully, he'll bring back the gold medal XD..and receive 1 million incentive..he shall be a millionaire then. haha.
